IIT Kanpur launches MoSDE curated National Entrepreneurship Awards 2019. Kanpur, UP- IIT Kanpur launched today the 4th edition of National Entrepreneurship Awards (NEA) 2019 curetted by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India. During the launch meeting held at IIT Kanpur, Prof Karandikar, Director, IIT Kanpur, addressed the invited dignitaries from across U.P. and M.P. including eminent representatives from Indian Industry Association (IIA), FICCI-Flo, TiE, CII, VCs and directors from top institutes, deans and professors from IIT Kanpur, NGOs and upcoming entrepreneurs/start-ups. He requested them to support IIT Kanpur in reaching out to potential entrepreneur nominees for NEA 2019. NEA 2019 aims at recognizing and honoring outstanding young first-generation entrepreneurs and those who have contributed immensely in building the entrepreneurial ecosystem. The objective is to reach out to deserving entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial ecosystem builders from across sectors, geographies, and socio-economic backgrounds. There will be a total of 45 awards, including 39 awards for young entrepreneurs in different sectors and 6 awards for entrepreneurship Ecosystem Builders.

The winners will receive a trophy, certificate and cash prizes ranging from Rs. 5 lakhs to 10 lakhs. The purpose of NEA 2019 is to catalyze a cultural shift in youth for entrepreneurship and to highlight models of excellence for others to emulate and improve upon. Talking about the role of IIT Kanpur in nurturing entrepreneurship across campus and surrounding communities, the professors at IIT Kanpur said that NEA 2019 is a good beginning to inculcate entrepreneurial spirit cross country and to create a conducive ecosystem among the young generation so that the future may see more of job-providers than job-seekers. This will lead them to their own economic as well as social empowerment and also lead them to a meaningful contribution to the economy of India. A presentation was made to apprise the attendees of the details of NEA 2019 after which the attendees discussed ways to promote NEA 2019 so that the information reaches even the grassroots level and IIT Kanpur is able to seek maximum meritorious nominations.
